Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Goldfish Crackers

Pepperidge Farm – Goldfish Baked Snack Crackers – 70% Organic – Cheddar Flavour

Claims:

-no artificial flavours or colours
-baked, never fried
-made with 70% organic ingredients

I gave these to my kids, and I tried them too. We get Goldfish crackers about once a month. We like to try the different flavours they always have coming out, our favourites are the Pizza, Vanilla Cupcake, Pretzel and classic Cheddar.

We get the Cheddar the most, so I figured they would be able to tell which was which for this trial. I set out some containers, and had them try from each. They couldn’t tell a difference between the taste, the only thing they had to note was one was more crunchy. That turned out to be the Organic ones.

They really do taste just the same, so I have to say good job on that.

The only downside for me was the resealable top. No one in our family could actually get this to work. I think it might just be a default in my own package, and not anything to do with the product on whole.

This didn’t arrive in my Sample Source box, as it was a large full sized product. I got a free coupon for full value of the item, and I picked it up at the Real Canadian Superstore.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, these are exactly like the original Cheddar, so why wouldn’t I?

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Goldfish Crackers - Fish

They really are cute, and it always makes me think of the song: “I love the fishes cause they are so delicious, I can eat them every day, and my mom says that’s okay! Going to go fishing, going to go fishing!”

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Welchs

Welch’s – Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks – Strawberry Flavour

Claims:

-fat free
-gluten free
-made with real fruit

This was the first thing we tried when the Sample Source box came in the mail. They were super excited about trying these, so much so I didn’t even get a picture of them. They are rather cute looking. We split the bag up and tried 3 each.

The kids loved them and wanted more. I really enjoyed them too. I look forward to seeing what other flavours they have in the lineup.

They have the same great taste as their other Fruit Snack lineup, what you’d expect from Welch’s. The yogurt part is nice and creamy, it is solid at first, then melts in your mouth. These aren’t messy. which I like. Something that can easily be shared.

This single packet sample arrived in my Sample Source Box. I have been trying to find them in the stores, but nothing near me seems to stock them.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I just got to find the little buggers!

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Gay Lea

Gay Lea – Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese – Plain Flavour

Claims:

-packed with protein
-perfect for sweet and savory dishes
-innovative smooth texture

This is one I tried myself, as the rest of the family is lactose intolerant. I am not a fan of cottage cheese, and there are very few recipes I use to make that would require it. My sister can eat it on its own, just covered in ground pepper, which I think is super gross. That being said, I picked this as part of my box, myself. Why? Well I had issues with protein during all my pregnancies, it was one of those things my body just didn’t want me to have, though I needed it. I became really aware of my protein intake, and it sort of crossed over to the kids as they grew, as well as just continuing to watch it in my own eating habits.

I saw that cottage cheese could be used in shakes, which is something I have been making more often, due to not wanting to waste food. Whenever a fruit item, or the last of the shredded carrots, doesn’t seem like it will be eaten, and I don’t want to throw it out, I have gotten into the habit of freezing it. I use these to make my smoothies. The kids really like smoothies, and I can hide stuff in there. While I wouldn’t give a smoothie with this in it for them, due to it being a cows milk product, I thought, why can’t I hide it in my own, will it really taste that bad?

So I have been trying it, substituting the yogurt I normally use, for the cottage cheese. I don’t actually notice the taste, I do find it to make them a bit thicker, so I have been adding a bit of Almond Milk as well(which I will talk about below)

1/2 cup of this Cottage Cheese equals to a half a chicken breast(I always measure my protein amounts in  chicken breasts, as it is something the whole family actually eats), which is 15g of protein.

I think I will keep buying this for that added benefit to my diet. The smooth version also reminds me more of Sour Cream, which makes it easier for me to handle, knowing I am eating it.

This didn’t arrive in my Sample Source box, as it was a large full sized product. I got a free coupon for full value of the item, and I picked it up at the Real Canadian Superstore.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, if only for the health benefits. I would never just eat it on its own.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Earths Own

Nature’s Own – SoFresh Almond – Unsweetened Vanilla

Claims:

-thicker and creamier
-subtle vanilla flavour
-non-gmo certified

I buy soy milk for the kids, due to their lactose intolerance. Growing up on cows milk, and liking the higher percents(I typically use 2% for like cereal and stuff), I could never get over the taste of soy milk, even if it was flavoured. We have tried some of the other milk alternatives, trying to find something to work for the full family. We had tried almond milk in the past, and I did like it, but it was so thin. I didn’t really enjoy it in cooking nor with my cereal.

This does seem thicker, I do like it more than the ones we have tried in the past. I actually haven’t tested it with cereal yet(I just haven’t bought myself any, haha), but I have had a few glasses and can stand to drink it on its own.

I actually have been combining this with the above cottage cheese, in my smoothies. My smoothie maker needs a bit of a liquid to help keep things processing, and I usually use apple juice, orange juice or a bit of water. I started to substitute in this, and like the results.

The man even likes this one, so that is a bonus!

This didn’t arrive in my Sample Source box, as it was a large full sized product. I got a free coupon for full value of the item, and I picked it up at the Real Canadian Superstore.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I plan to. I do want to try it out with cereal and see how that goes.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Purina

Purina – Dental Life Chews – Oral Dog Treats

Claims:

-no added artificial flavours or colours
-star shape helps clean hard to reach areas
-helps reduce tartar buildup

I didn’t try these myself. The dog did, and he ate it up in like a minute, haha. I really can’t attest to how well it would have helped his teeth, but he did really enjoy the treat. He is a puppy, only just hit a year old, so his teeth are in decent shape. They looked clean and healthy after he ate it. If anything, he enjoys them.

I got one treat in my Sample Source box, as well as a $3CAD off coupon. I couldn’t find the new Large Breed sized ones, so we went for a medium sized dog bag. It was $3.97CAD, at the Real Canadian Superstore, so I only sent $1CAD plus tax.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I already did. I think it can’t hurt for him to have a few a week as a different sort of treat.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Fancy Feast

Purina – Fancy Feast – Creamy Delights – Salmon Feast

Claims:

-made with a touch of real milk that cats crave
-comes in 2 variations: grilled or pate

Another that I had to have someone else try. Or a pair of someones! These are for the cats this time, and it is from a brand I have purchased in the past and knew they loved. I feed them dry food, and actually only give them these wet food cans as treats once a week.

They really liked these creamy ones. The kitten normally abandons hers after only a 1/4 eaten, but she ate this one until it was half gone. It has nothing to do with the products, and more with the fact she is little, so her tummy is small.

I got one can in my Sample Source box, as well as a “Buy 2 get one Free” coupon. I purchased these at Walmart. There were 4 cans in total, I just didn’t like them all in the picture, haha.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I already did. They like them, and that is what really matters. Stormy would eat them until her belly burst, so that is why they get them as treats only.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Kitties

I gave them the cans just for the picture, but put the food on plates after. I don’t like to feed them with the cans themselves, as they have sharp edges, and could cut their tongues. Stormy is like, I want yours too, what you got?

I still have a good amount of products to try out, so you can hear my views on them at a later day.

‘Til Later

Helen
