Edibles Review – Alter Eco – Organic Velvet Truffles

Brokedown Vanity - Edibles Review - Alter Ego - Truffles

For our Bonus Post today, it will be a review on Alter Eco Organic Velvet Truffles.

I am not a huge fan of chocolate. I do love me some white chocolate and dark chocolate from time to time, but I barely ever get something that is more like a milk chocolate. That being said, I did pick these up when I saw them on sale, for the sake of the blog, curiosity and science. I was curious as to how good these would be.

Before anyone gets on me for the best before date, I finished these a bit ago, just hadn’t done up a post yet. Also, I stick my chocolate in the freezer. I have done this for years. It keeps it nice and fresh, and it is rather refreshing in summer, or during hot flashes, haha.

My Thoughts

These just melt in your mouth! Even from frozen, haha. The outer coating is slightly thick, so if you aren’t chewing it takes a second to break through to the inner part of the truffle. Once you do break through, a new wave of flavour hits you. It is super creamy, soft and melty. These are some of the best truffles I have ever tried.

For all those people who say organic candy/chocolate is gross, and isn’t comparable to the cheap store chocolate that people have been conditioned to, I can tell you that these aren’t gross. These taste very high-end. They remind me of the Laura Secord styled truffles, just without the cocoa dusting.

I really like that the whole package is biodegradable, right down to the wrappers. The packaging itself is unique, I like the artwork, the shape and the colours of the boxes. They are also a bit grungy looking, which calls to my inner goth/rocker/punk that is still hidden somewhere in my heart. I think Alter Eco did a great job as a whole with this product, quality, product and packaging.

Yes, I will. These were really good, and even if not on sale, the regular price is really great for the type of product you are getting. I will be purchasing these for a friend, who can’t have anything but natural sugars.

I really like the packaging and what the company stands for.

‘Til the next post
