The tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara is the second mascara I chose at random(I just closed my eyes and picked it out of a bag).
If you want to read more about the series, or are interested in purchasing for yourself a Sephora Favorites LashStash to Go Kit, you can read more about it on my other post; Mascara Time!!! – Sephora Favorites LashStash to Go – Summer 2017 Edition.

I’ve seen this mascara in the media in years past and did know that it is a favorite mascara for many. Since I don’t normally wear mascaras that aren’t waterproof, this was never an option for me. For the sake of science, and a gift freely given, I am giving it a go.
The price is comparable to most non Durgstore mascaras. My Trial size was 4ml/0.13 fl oz, so there was a decent amount of product to try out.

One of the things I noticed right off the bat was the smell. Now, mascara isn’t really one of those things that is pleasant to smell anytime, it isn’t really meant to smell pretty. That being said, this one does have a more potent smell right off the bat when you open the tube. I wasn’t right out trying to sniff it or anything, it was just a wave of fumes upon opening. I also found for the first few days, my eyes watered, even before I was getting it on. I would have the wand posed for application, and my eyes would just start gushing.
I do find with mascaras, my eyes have to acclimate to the formulas. It normally takes a good week, and then my eyes get use to it. Just one of the many things I have to deal with, with having photosesitivity and allergies/skin sensitivities. They all gang up on me, haha.
The wand isn’t overly bulky and has a lot of short bristles. I have gotten use to using the more rubbery wands over the years, so using this classic styled wand was a blast from the past. It was easy to apply on both my bottom and top lashes. I didn’t feel like there was any spot where it was hard to manipulate to get my lashes coated.
This is marketed as a “4 in 1” mascara. It is supposed to Lengthen, Curl, Condition and Volumize. The only thing I can’t really comment on is the Conditioning. I really don’t know if it helped or anything. I can say that it did not have the instant results that the Bobby Brown Lash Mascara did. That stuff worked right on day one with amazing results(and it wasn’t even marketed for that either).
The formula itself is thick, and does lengthen my lashes decently. It is a quick set formula, so if you want to do more than one coat, you have to apply it quickly. One coat makes for great lower lashes. It does curl without the use of a curler, though your lashes might not be curling in the exact direction you want them to. It does volumize too, but due to it setting so fast, you can get some clumping with this thicker formula.
If you so much as touch your lashes, or rub, you do get smearing right away. Also, it will break off. I wouldn’t want to wear this formula with glasses or long bangs.
I found this also to be slightly itchy by the end of the day. I just wanted to get it off by then.
Something to note as well, is that this is a vegan product.
Would I purchase this?
No, I don’t think I would. This product just doesn’t hit all the things I need in a mascara. It worked well, and I didn’t have too many issues with it as a whole. It just didn’t work for me, with all my cosmetic needs. I can find a more suitable mascara at the drugstore, that does all the things I need, and is waterproof to boot.
Will this one be the Winner? I don’t think so, but we have two more mascaras to try for the kit. Wonder what gets picked out of the bag for next week!
