I am in love with this photo, so simple, but I love it.
For our Post today, it will be a review on The Body Shop Born Lippy in Satsuma Shimmer.
I really enjoy the Satsuma Line a The Body Shop. It is a very strong scent, but I am actually not allergic to it, which is probably why I like it so much. Most strong scents I just don’t get along with, so having one that actually works is amazing. Since I liked the scent, I thought I’d try something a bit different out of the line, and picked this up.

My Thoughts
I was a little leery at first, when in the process of choosing to buy this. I am not an orange girl normally, nothing against the colour, I just don’t gravitate towards it naturally. I also have never tried The Body Shop Balms, I have only ever purchased the Lip Butters.
I will say this, it is tinted, but it goes on very sheer, and unlike the rest of the Balm Line, this one has shimmer in it. It is the main reason why I picked it up. Once on my lips it gives a nice little bit of extra to my natural colour, as well as adding the fun shimmer to my lips.
To me this feels like it is in between a lipgloss and a lip balm. The formula is thinner than The Body Shop Lip Butters, but not as liquidy as a gloss. I wouldn’t exactly say this is a balm, personally, as it is a bit more sticky. I am not sure if the others in the balm line are the same, as this is currently the only one with shimmer, so maybe the formulation is just a bit different. It isn’t super sticky like a lipgloss, but also isn’t totally a balm texture either.
It is very moisturizing, and the wear time was great for a product of this type. I feel like even though I have been wearing this consistently over a week now, I have barely made a dent in the product.
A few things I can see some people not liking:
- strongly scented
- must use a finger to apply
- doesn’t have a normal lip balm consistency
Left – Natural Light, Right – Phone Flash —– Amazing how different my skin can look in the different light. So alive looking with the flash, where as I normally just look pale AF. My see through skin and dark veins don’t help the whole being amongst the living thing.
Repurchase?
Maybe. I like the product just fine, I just wish there was others in the line that were shimmer too. I could see myself buying this somewhere down the line, but not right after this one is empty. I want to try another from the The Body Shop Balm Line, so I can see if the formulas really are different. They have a Passionberry one that sounds yummy.
I would recommend it though, as it really does boost your lips on no makeup days, or just basic running around days.

The color looks pretty & I love the shimmer! I’ve only tried their lip butter so I’ll have to check this out the next time I go to The Body Shop!

I was the same, I love the lip butters and have been using them for over 20 years. This is the year of me trying all the thangs though, so yay for exploration!
I am sure there are similar products for much cheaper out there, but I know The Body Shop is safe for me, so I am less scared to try their products out.
I think these might be on sale currently instore too, they have a big sale going on online and instore right now.

It’s good to try new things!
The Body Shop is also cruelty free & available in Denmark so that’s a big plus for me! I like Lush’s products but they’re even more expensive & not available here.
I checked online & they’re on sale so I’ll probably go downtown later this week to see if they have it instore😊

[…] I actually used this so much, I ended up doing an early review on it, as I felt I had used it enough to formulate a full opinion on it. You can read about it in my Tuesday’s Honest Reviews – The Body Shop – Born Lippy in Satsuma Shimmer Post. […]
