While commenting on a favorite blogger’s youtube video, Candice of the cCosmetic Chaos Blog, and receiving a comment in turn, I was inspired to do this post.
I realized I only have half a year left, and I still haven’t found that one palette that I love and really want. I have high hopes, and want to find the perfect mix of colours just for me. That is all what we want in a palette right? we just want it all. So hard to find something that delivers, especially when we all have different tastes, and the brands are all trying to make sure they make something suitable for everyone.
The one palette I use the most still is one of the only remaining palettes from before the big vanity purge of February 2018. Not much survived the purge, but I could not let this one go. Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow 10 Shade Palette – Winter Berry 01. My sister bought it for me, for xmas one year, she knew I had the quad version Wild Orchids, so she thought I’d like this bigger palette, and she was right.

Revlon still has the illuminance Creme shadows, which I didn’t even know, so I will be checking those out soon.
While ultimately I love the formula, and how the creme doesn’t get stuck in my creases/fine lines, this could never be my ultimate palette, as it is all shimmer/glitter. I still use other products with this. That is okay, I am more than fine with that. But because of that, I don’t think I could classify it as the Ultimate Palette.

I recently thought I found the best palette for me, but was rather disappointed with friends thoughts on it, and reviews I had read. I really like the colour story of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette. It would go well with my eyes and skintone. It has enough of a mix of eyeshadow types, as well as colour to make looks fun.
I just can’t buy something that is going to take extra time to make it look good. For that sort of money, it needs to just plain work.

I’ve had this favourited for a while now. I never pulled on this, because I really didn’t know much about the company. I have purchased some products from them recently, and enjoy the quality of them, so maybe this wouldn’t be a bad thing to get.
Chloe Morello’s Beauty Haul by Ciate London Volume 2(what a name) has a great mix of colours, which is ultimately what I am looking for, alongside the different formulas. This would just be a bonus palette too, as you get all the little extras alongside it.

I recently saw a commercial for the Urban Decay Born to Run palette on Youtube. That is a palette I really like. It has enough of all formulas to play with, matte, satin, shimmer and more glittery shadows. Also, it has a good mix of colours. For $59CAD you get 21 shadows, with the pans for each being smaller than normal, making it less worth it to most. A lot of people already have these colours in other popular palettes. I don’t however, and that is the lure for me. I want a mix of normal shades, with fun colours, as well as all the different eyeshadow formulas. This is what appeals to me in this palette.

I also have to consider how easy the item is to get to my country. I don’t think it is worth it to have to ship something in from the states, and pay extra for Duty, Shipping and then Taxes on top. So that leaves a lot of companies out of my reach.
Like BH Cosmetics for example, I really like a lot of their palettes. I would probably own 10 of them by now, if I didn’t have to deal with a border. I like the Zodiac one the most, and could see myself using that at least 3 times a week.

I like a lot of Makeup Revolution as well, many of their palettes look right up my ally. The SophX palette is the one I would probably like to get first. You can sorta see a theme, looking back on all these palettes. I have lots of fun, vibrant palettes currently. I am looking for something that is an all around daily palette, but still has lots of options and a few fun colours.

I really like this one from Morphe too, it has some colours that could have been swapped for others I feel, but I should get good use out of this. I see a lot of people using this Jaclyn Hill palette, and the looks are always so diverse. Sadly, it seems like another one of those palettes you have to do extra work, just to get your look to be as polished as you want it. I don’t want to spend a half hour doing just my eyeshadow.

So that is that, I didn’t want to make it too long. I am really thinking on that Urban Decay Palette. It is the easiest one for me to get a hold of, and they have been doing great things with the formulas of their more recent palettes. I would probably go instore to see it, and check out the quality.
I also want to try to find some different Winners and Marshals near me, I’ve seen some wonderful palettes in there recently, but sadly they were epically destroyed by swatchers.

I definitely think that the UD palette is a good option! I may try to get it with my Shopper’s Drug Mart points if they get it in! I’m not sure if they will though!

Thank-you for commenting, I didn’t even know Shoppers had Urban Decay, I have like nearly $100 points, haha.

Yes!!! Only certain locations have it so hopefully one near you does! Otherwise I think you can order online through Beauty Boutique

On Beauty Boutique, do you know if the points can cover the whole cost, or is it one of those things were we have to pay tax with actual money?
So many questions. I normally just go to shoppers in person, so never dealt with the site.
I did find a location not too far that says it carries Urban Decay, I checked with the actual Urban Decay site, so hopefully that means it is legit. I’ll be calling and confirming later today.

I think it’s the same as in store where you can redeem at whatever points level you want, but it has to be their points levels (I think it’s even 10’s) so you could redeem $60 to get this palette, and then pay the extra few dollars on top that are probably from tax etc. I haven’t actually ordered online with Beauty Boutique before but I would be surprised if it was different from in store.

Thanks for answering. I might have to go instore and ask. The site doesn’t really explain it exactly. I know with some points programs in Canada, it doesn’t cover tax.

I’m pretty sure it does, but they can only redeem an even amount! If the palette were to cost $59 and tax were to be ~$7, you would redeem $60 and pay the remaining $6 out of pocket.

That was how I figured it would be. So if It does go to store, it would be easier to pick it up that way.
