Tuesday’s Honest Reviews – Must Have Beauty – Matte Lips Duo Kit

Bokedown Vanity - Review - MHB - Matte Lip Duo - Packaged

For our Post today, it will be a review on the Must Have Beauty Matte Lips Duo Kit in Pink.

I have been trying many things on this blog, to further my own knowledge of the advancements in the beauty industry, as well as some of the more naturally derived and cruelty free products, and sometimes just because it is there and why not?

I picked up this kit because I have been seeing this label on my shops to Winners, and I was curious if it was really low quality makeup, or if it was decent. There are always a bunch of different kits, focused around one specific facial feature. The packaging is very minimal, but I like it.

Item – Must Have Beauty – Matte Lips Duo Kit in Pink

Cost – $2.50CAD-$7CAD – It all depends on which Winners, not sure why.

Size – Lip Liner Pencil is 1g/0.04oz and Liquid Lipstick 4ml/0.14fl oz

My Thoughts

The lip liner was very dry, I had to line my lips over a few times. It is also lighter than the colour on its own package. It is also about 3 shades lighter than the liquid lipstick. If anything, I’d want my liner darker than the liquid lipstick, not the other way around.

The Liquid Lipstick is super nice though, it was a little more true to the packaging. It dries down only a slight bit darker than what is portrayed on the tube. It takes a wee bit to dry down, but it is a true matte. It also is transfer proof from direct contact. Now, if you go at it with a finger and really rub, you do get a residue on your finger, almost like when you play with plasticine. You really have to give it a good try though.

I wore this for 3 days in a row, and each day it lasted me a good 5 hours before any touch-up was needed. I ate some ice cream on day one, and only had slight issues in the corners of my mouth, where I had been using my napkin. This isn’t the best to try to touch up with a full other layer on top of the first, but you can do spot cleanups okay. It fades really nicely too, when it does start to really disintegrate.

I prefer to wear it with something underneath, otherwise it really grabs and settles into all the fine lines on your lips. I’ve just been using my EOS lip balm with all my liquid lip trials.

Repurchase?

No, I wouldn’t. My need for experimentation and my curiosity was satisfied with this one. I might try other items from the line. This wasn’t a bad product per say, the liner sucked, but the liquid lipstick was really good. I just don’t feel like it adds anything to my current collection, and don’t feel like I need to pick up a different colour of this kit. This colour was already something I normally wouldn’t pick for myself, although I did end up really enjoying it, and do plan on wearing it more in the future.

There were some kids with about 5 to 10 liquid lipsticks by Must Have Beauty, when I picked this one up. I didn’t get them, because that is a lot of lipstick to waste, if I didn’t like them. Now that I have tried this one, I might try one of the other ranges. Hopefully the formula between the different ranges aren’t too different.

This was a fun little experiment, and it was obviously needed, as I couldn’t find too many reviews on the internet about these products.

‘Til Tomorrow

    1. I have to agree, it is fun to experiment, even if something isn’t a product you have heard anything about. Winners is a fairly big chain store, so I was fairly confident it wasn’t going to do anything super crazy to my face.

  1. This was a great review, Helen. Thank you so much for including the list of ingredient in your photos, because that’s extremely helpful and don’t see a lot of bloggers going that. The shade you chose was very pretty! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I was thinking looking at the pictures that the lip liner looked very light, just before I read that you thought so, too! I totally agree with it being the same shade or darker than the lip product itself, otherwise it’s not really a help in lining your lips for the product? It does look nice, however I do have a few other liquid lip staples that I think are just extraordinary! Great review!

    1. I have others in the Liquid Lip category I really enjoy myself. I got this more for curiosity sake, haha. I also haven’t managed to find much on the net about them, so thought it might help someone else who shops at Winners.
