Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Cetaphil - Lotion

Cetaphil – Moisturizing Lotion

Claims:

-It absorbs easily and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
-It is non-irritating, non-comedogenic and fragrance-free
-Clinically proven to hydrate and protect skin for 24 hours
-Paraben-free and Fragrance Free

I have been trying not to do too much to my face, with the whole may eczema fiasco. I did use this once I thought I was sort of safe, and I have to say I am super surprised. This is geared towards sensitive skin, and is dermatologist recommended.  The formula is a light weight one, which is very hydrating. I have been having some allergies too, so around my nose has been super dry. This product has helped keep my flaking in that area at bay. It also didn’t further set my allergies off, as it doesn’t have a scent. I also liked how smooth my face was after using it for a while.

This arrived in my Sample Source box, as 4ml sample packet. I have not purchased the full sized item, but I have seen them around at various retailers.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I plan to. I was super surprised at how well it worked with my skin. Why haven’t I heard about this product before??? haha

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Cetaphil - Cleanser

Cetaphil – Gentle Skin Cleanser

Claims:

-Recommended by dermatologists for over 65 years
-It is oil-free, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic
-Mild cleansing for all skin types

This is a soap free formula. It is so weird. I am use to having cleansers that foam up. This is also totally safe for your eyes, since it isn’t a soap. I have very sensitive eyes, and this does not make them water, nor does sting. It however doesn’t work too well at taking off waterproof makeup. The other interesting thing is that all you need to do to get it off is use a dry cloth. This is a first to me, and I didn’t mind it. I apply this on dampened skin, and after cleaning and wiping off, my face feels silky smooth.

This arrived in my Sample Source box, as 4ml sample packet. I have not purchased the full sized item, but I have seen them around at various retailers.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I plan to. I think this would be a great after workout cleanser. It will also be good on the days I don’t wear much makeup.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Voltaren

Voltaren Emulgel – Original

Claims:

-relieves pain
-reduces inflammation
-speeds your body’s natural healing process

So I was playing with the dog and kids outside over the weekend, and the dog decided to weave and cut in from of me, really close. He generally likes to get in the way, on purpose, he finds it fun to block people. I wasn’t expecting it, and we were going full tilt, so I ended up cracking him right in the lower jaw with mt knee, and across his foreleg with my calf of my leg. My knee swelled right up, and hurt like a bugger. I thought it would be the perfect time to try out this Voltaren Emulgel. It helped right away, soothing the area, and making it a bit easier to move around.

The next day it was a real help, as that was monday, and I had to move around more. I put it on as soon as I started feeling more swelling and discomfort. I don’t know how well it really helps with the healing process of things, but I do know my bruising is normally horrible, and goes though like a 20 colour stage process. With the use of the Voltagen, I only had maybe 7 colours, and not too much spreading.

This arrived in my Sample Source box, as a 20g sized product.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, it worked great, and did exactly what I needed it too. It was nice not to take a pill, and just use a topical for treatment. I might just keep it around for fading bruises, as that was what strikes me the most, when using this, the quick fading of my bruises.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Voltaren - Leg

See what my dog did to me! my leg is all bruised up. That is basically where I have been using the Volargen over the last week, as my knee was so swollen for a few days.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons – Various Teas

Orange Pekoe – A classic blend of orange pekoe and cut black tea.

Earl Grey – True to tradition, Tim Hortons Earl Grey Tea is a special tea blend infused with distinctive flavour and aroma of the oil of bergamot, a small, fragrant citrus fruit.

Peppermint Tea – A refreshing peppermint herbal tea – naturally caffeine free.

Green Tea – A delicate blend of green tea with lemongrass.

Like most Canadians, I do enjoy me some Timmies. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do like drinking their teas. Ever since they started serving their Steeped Tea, I was sold. I enjoy one whenever I have the extra change lying around the vehicle. Being able to bring home that taste in a teabag was a great addition to my tea collection.

It has been some time since I tried any of their other teas though. I really enjoyed the Earl Grey, it was very flavourful, and one teabag actually made 4 cups of strong tea. I was really surprised. The Peppermint Tea left my mouth with a refreshing aftertaste. I don’t generally enjoy Green Teas, though I will drink them for my health, and this one was very pleasant cold, with some lemon spritzed in it.

This arrived as 4 teabags in my Sample Source box. I have already picked up the Orange Pekoe, which I purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I already purchased the Orange Pekoe. I would like to pick up the Earl Grey next, it was by far the best Earl Grey I have every tried in teabag form.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Cesar

Cesar – Entrees – Filet Mignon Flavour

Claims:

– High quality protein for easy digestion
– 100% complete and balanced nutrition for adult small dogs
– Gram-for-gram has fewer calories than dry food
– High moisture content

I actually gave this to the dog as a treat, since our dog is a very large breed, so this would not be enough for a meal. I was super surprised how it performed. Due to the way it is made, it is like a pate, so when the dog started to lick it, it wasn’t coming up in big chunks. I could tell he was frustrated, because he just wants to swallow everything whole basically. Not sure why, he loves to eat, you would think he would want to enjoy the food. So I was super satisfied with this. Instead of eating in in the expected 30 seconds, this actually lasted him a whole 7 minutes. By the time it got to the last 1/5 of products, he was able to just snatch the rest and eat it whole. I always worry about his habit of eating everything as quickly as possible, and in as few chews as possible. This left me rather happy, as he had to lick it up more than try to get a grip on it to wolf it down.

This arrived in my Sample Source box, as full sized product. It also came with coupons for this, and a few other Cesar products, for certain amounts of money off.

Would I purchase this product?

Yes, I plan to. I have not purchased the other items yet, but I will be buying him more of these entrees for sure, as a treat for when he is super good for me.

Brokedown Vanity - Sample Source - Review - Persil

Persil ProClean – Power Liquid Original

Claims:

-Powerful stain-fighting combination for a premium clean
-Great for everyday laundry and to help fight tough stains
-10 Dimensions of Clean

I decided to see how this would do on my load of handwash. My handwash items normally consist of a multitude of fancy dresses that my daughter lines to wear in the grass, as well as things like scarves, knitted couch throws, feather pillows and various other things. I added a bit of this to my warm water in my kitchen sink, and then went to work scrubbing. I got out all the dirt and grass stains in my daughters dresses. It made my knitted couch throw smell so good. So far it has been a week, and none of the household has had any allergic reactions to the formula, we have all used the couch throw at various stages though the week.

This arrived in my Sample Source box, as a one load sample.

Would I purchase this product?

I might, I might not. I didn’t find it to do anything better than what I normally use. It is just a good product, in a sea of other equally good products. Maybe I needed to test it on more sodden clothing.

=====================================================

I have a few more products to test, than this batch will finally be done from SampleSource. I have found some new favorite items so far, so I would say that the whole project they have going on is worth the effort. People really can find new loves from samples, if they are given the opportunity.

‘Til Later
