Lips of the Week #3 – Sephora Special

Brokedown Vanity - LOTW - Sephora Special

Left to Right – Kat Von D, Bite Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, tarte, Bite Beauty, Urban Decay, Bite Beauty, Grande Cosmetics

Last month I had purchased the “Sephora Favorites: Give me some Lip” Lip Kit during the Spring Sale. I also received my Sephora birthday gift from Bite Beauty in the same package. I had them both in my Package Unboxing – Sephora Spring Sale 2018 post.

I thought it might be fun to do a Lips of the Week post using all the from the lip kit, as well as mixing in the Bite Beauty brithday products.

Products I chose:

Monday – Kat Von D Beauty – Studded Kiss Creme in Lovecraft and Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick in Pink Pearl

I didn’t go in knowing a whole lot about these products. I knew a little bit, but I didn’t want my head full of reviews and whathaveyou. I was really surprised by the Kat Von D lipstick. It went on super creamy and is also very matte. The product itself transferred very slowly, I wore it for about 4 hours, before I decided to try the Bite Beauty Multistick.

The Bite Beauty Multistick is actually my favorite product in the whole Lip Kit. I am looking into which colour I might want to purchase full sized. I applied this over top of the Kat Von D, with a lip brush, as I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try the multistick on my cheeks too, so didn’t want to get the creme all over it. This is very shimmery, with very small glitter flecks in it. It looked beautiful on top of the Kat Von D creme. I find you will end up with sparkle all over if you accidentally smear your lips. Not the sort of thing I would wear to a dinner date, but would be good for a concert.

Tuesday – Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Ruby and tarte Rainforest of the Sea H2O Gloss in Bora Bora

The Anastasia Matte Lipstick is super pigmented. It transfers a bit more than the Kat Von D one, and feels a bit more dry on the lips. I have a similar colour in the Milani Color Statement Matte Lipsticks, and it performs way better than this. Wasn’t all that impressed and I was expecting more out of this product.

I paired it half way though the day with the tarte lipgloss. This lipgloss is super sticky, so if that bothers you, then I wouldn’t suggest you get this. I don’t mind it personally. It is not only super sticky, but it is also very thick, which I don’t mind either. I did feel that it kept to its name, and hydrated my lips, as they really needed it after that Anastasia Lipstick. The glitter runs more on the cool tones in the Bora Bora, so I probably will pair it with a different colour range the next time I use it.

Wednesday – Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace and Urban Decay Hi-Fi Lipgloss in SPL

I really enjoyed this stick from Bite Beauty. I wouldn’t say it is a true matte, it never really dries down totally flat, it almost has a semi satin finish. It transfers more, but has this odd thing where it never seems to truly dissipate. Almost like it has layers, so you have many chances before it wears thin.

After lunch I paired it with the Urban Decay lipgloss. This gloss has a very slight pink tint, with both pink and cool toned glitter in it. I much preferred this combo, than the previous day’s. This lipgloss is also much thinner and less tacky. Out of the two in the Lip Kit, this is the one I’d probably purchase, if I was in need of a lipgloss.

Thursday – Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai

This lipstick is super pigmented, to the point it will stain your lips. Due to this, it wears really nicely over the day. I had this on for 7 hours, and while it did not look like it did when I first put it on, it did no look funky by the end of that period, with no touchups. It performs like the previously mentioned Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon, where it feels like it is almost a layers product, transferring off, but revealing a new layer underneath. I found it slightly tacky, but not in an uncomfortable way, I just knew I was wearing it.

Friday – Grande Cosmetics – HydraPlump Semi-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Smoked Sherry

This takes a bit getting used to, to apply. It goes on super thick, so you really have to work at getting an even application. It also takes a good 10 minutes to dry down. Once dry, it is totally matte, so I am not sure why it is said to be a semi-matte. It is semi-matte before the 10 minute mark, but after it is totally matte. Maybe mine is magical or something. Just keep that in mind if you want to try this out. It might be something to swatch at Sephora, if you are really interested.

This also isn’t kiss proof, there is a lot of transfer to this product. The more I think about it, the more it feels like they just took an actual lipstick formula, and made it slightly more liquid, so it would work with a wand. Weird product, but fun to try.

Left is with Daylight, Right is with Camera Flash – Bottom to Top – Kat Von D, Bite Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, tarte, Bite Beauty, Urban Decay, Bite Beauty, Grande Cosmetics(just applied)

The real winners are all the Bite Beauty products. They preformed really well. I was originally skeptical, I heard a few bad things about the products from the line, but my bestie said she liked everything she has ever gotten, so I tried to go into it with fresh eyes. So glad I did, because now I know I want to explore the brand some more.

I also really liked the Kat Von D lipstick and Urban Decay lipgloss.

I will have to wait to get them until after my no buy, but I might go favorite some things on Sephora now, in preparation, haha.
