No Buy – For the next 6 Weeks

Brokedown Vanity - No Buy

Yay, I got to fix my Hardy Candy Lipstick my daughter broke, best way to smooth a crunched tip, and fun too!

So I was thinking of doing a no buy, since I had been purchasing a lot to restock my vanity full of 13 year old products. I am not unhappy with the amount I have purchased. I feel I have just gotten to the point where I have all the things I really need, and anything else would just be fluff.

Candice of the Ccosmetic Chaos blog, is also doing a No Buy, and she is the one that sort of made me really commit to it. Not personally, but she started hers, then we chatted in comments, and I was like, I do have some things I’d like to save up for, so the money would best go that way.

I really don’t think I’ll have an issue with doing this, as I only just got back into the whole makeup thing, and I already purchased most things I needed, for replacing purposes.

What will this mean for Shopping Haul Saturdays? Well I do have a few Birthday shops that are still not up on the blog, one from Winners(from my Mother-in-law) and one from the Body Shop, from the kids. I have other things that were saved too, like I small points haul, at Shoppers Drug Mart. I also have some clothing hauls, I have a St. Vincent near me, which does $0.50CAD clothing bins. I like to go and get things for the kids there, but I had got myself some cute things in april.

So that is what will be going on over the next while for saturdays.

My Rules:

-no Beauty Buys for 6 weeks

-allowed $5 a week for Blog Giveaway Stash(this was already saved and budgeted, so no point in changing that)

-giveaway stash money can roll over into the next week

-if I run out of deodorant or something, which I don’t have a backup for, I am buying myself a new one, don’t care

-presents for other people don’t count, as mother’s day is coming up, as well as a few bdays

June 16th will be the first day I am allowed to purchase again. So lets see how I do. Again I don’t think this will be all that much of an issue. I like the extra things I have been picking up, obviously, but I went almost a decade with barely buy anything for myself, so I think 6 weeks will be a easy-peasy.

‘Til Tomorrow

  1. Oh my baby girl we are going to be a pair for the next while. I was supposed to film today and felt totally uninspired, so I sat around and watched movies all day instead. Not my finest hour. My only two “allowable” purchases have been made for this month, and we are only four days in…. so now I’m just adding things to my cart and then abandoning it lol. Probably not a healthy move!

    1. Awww. I think it will not only be a bit easier for me, due to the reasons stated, but also because I prefer physical shopping. I just have to not take myself to places and I am fine, haha.

I remember when I first started my blog, I did this list, where I had to put down 100 ideas. I still have it so if I become less inspired, I can just look at that I guess. I also will be up north for 3 weeks in the summer, so need to pre-make content for that, so hopefully that can keep me busy.

I am just hoping nothing super awesome comes out that I really like, like a wicked Lancome Gift With Purchase at the bay, or a The Body Shop Sale blowout.

I leave abandoned carts all over the place. I wont deal with Duty, so I don’t buy from American sites, it limits things and makes me sad, but I do like pretending to shop sometimes. Sort of weird but whatever.

      1. Sometimes I go on Sephora and add literally every single thing I want to buy and try and it’s at like… 1500 and then I freak out and bail lol,

Stupid colour pop just emailed me a 40% off the whole site…. I deleted it with rage and sadness. VICTORY!!

      2. That would make for a fun post actually. Like how much would your cart come to if you had an unlimited giftcard. I am checking my email now(just got back from a trip overnight without the kids, bonus!), so I am a little scared.

Already see sephora, julep, TopBox, Sally’s, The Body Shop all lined up in there. Might just not hit the Promotions folder for the next month, until it hits a number that I just think is too insane and I have to clean the darn thing out.

        Yay for small victories!

  2. Oh man, I think we have all done that, sometimes you just get super excited. I actually started buying myself sunglasses like 7 months before the trip. I didn’t have my passport back from the government yet, haha.

    1. I am glad you like my blog.

I had fun doing the challenge. It really isn’t so bad for me. You sort of took it to the next level with making it a whole lifestyle No Buy.

I agree on having a few exceptions, because really, you don’t want life to just cease utterly.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you create each week. I have started to shop my own stash and make things recently. I just did a bunch of chainmaille pieces last night.

As for the wardrobe, it’ll be fun to see what you dig up. Maybe you have more unworn belts hidden somewhere. I recently found some jewelry in a shoebox, so that was fun for me.

      Good Luck!
