Review – Nivea – SPF Lip Balm

Brokedown Vanity - Review - Nivea

With the weather getting a bit warmer, and the kids wanting to go outside more, it was time to switch out my lip balms from my medicated ones to my sun screen ones. I found my one tube I usually use super crusty, so went to pick up some more.

They didn’t have it in stock, so I decided to try the Nivea SPF Sun Caring Lip Balm. I haven’t used it before this, but I have used Nivea products, so felt fairly confident that I could wear it without any irritation.

It has a light scent with is sort of like cotton candy mixed with citrus. It sounds weird when I say that, but it isn’t unpleasant. The product info says it has shae butter and honey in it, but I really don’t get those scent coming across to me. I don’t have the greatest nose for rooting out that sort of specific scent information, to be honest.

The only thing is that I’d suggest really trying to not lick your lips. It tastes exactly like sunscreen, which as I am sure you all know, isn’t something very appealing. Your tongue ends up coated, and it lasts forever(I had to go scrub my tongue with my toothbrush, darn testing for science).

It lasts me about 3 hours before I feel the need to reapply. I have not tested it under other lip products.

In canada it is law for beauty products to have some sort of magic permit number type thing to import items with SPF on the labels. That means when the packaging says SPF 30, it is actually SPF 30. So this is actually the highest SPF lip balm I have ever tried, all my other ones have been SPF 15. I can’t totally tell if it is helping more than the others, but I am moisturized and not cracking, so that is all I really want.

I got the tube at Foodland, of all places, and it was reg $2.29CAD, and I got $0.80CAD savings at the register. L$1.49CAD, what a steal. I actually wish I had the foresight to purchase a few more. Another nice thing was it is a bigger product, it actually has 4.8g in the tube, where as my others had only 4g.

You can purchase it on
