e.l.f. Cosmetics – Pre-Bday Prezzie to ME!

Brokedown Vanity - Bday Prezzie - elf

I was at Shoppers Drug Mart the other day, and saw a display with e.l.f giftpacks. There was these 2 palette packs, as well as an “Eye” pack(which was a 10 palette, mascara, eyeliner and brow set) and a “7 in 1” kit, which had lip scrub, lip primer, eye primer, setting spray and some other things(can’t recall it all, sorry).

I picked up the two above as a gift to myself for my upcoming birthday. I had enough points to nab them anyways(I make about $16 dollars worth of points each week, so it adds up quick).

I didn’t really want to wait until sunday to play with the palette, so I cracked it open and played with it today.

I don’t know why I took the preshot, but I did. I think I was amused by the lip primer. I also used a lip plumper, haven’t used those in a while, so you can see my lips actually reacting to it here, and by react, I mean it doing it’s job. Only other things I am wearing at this point are moisturizer and skin primer.

My lashes are so little! I should have put falsies on!

I haven’t gotten around to creating a completed list for what I want for foundations, concealer and whatnot yet. That means I don’t have any coverage items at home yet. So in the meantime, I purchased a tinted moisturizer. I normally get the ones from Nivea, but there was only medium and darker instock, so I just picked up one from the inhouse product line at my grocery store. I don’t like it as much as the Nivea. It acts more like a BB cream. I use this to keep myself looking mostly natural, never liked a caked face. It also just evens me out. I have about 1000 greenish freckles(because they are fading) on my face, which causes me to look all sorts of funky.

I used a very, very light application of bronzer and blush, just so I wasn’t so washed out.

I was really happy with the e.l.f. lip plumper, it worked perfectly, and did almost as good as the one I use to get back in the day, which had bee venom in it.

On to the palette! I find all the colours blended really well. There was lots of shades to choose from, to help build from skintone. I had to use a damp brush to get the right took for the pink shimmery shade, it’s pigmented well, just didn’t seem to want to build up. I did have some fallout happen. The darker shades actually seemed to perform better than the lighter, which I thought weird, normally it is the other way around for me.

All in all I would say this is a good complementary palette, or a starter palette for someone just getting into makeup. I personally wanted it because I don’t own many matte colours in my own collection. I seemed to be really into shimmer when I was younger. I also needed to replace things that just are too old to perform well.

All in all I am happy with the 100 palette, and will be experimenting with it, and incorporating it my other products for looks in the coming weeks.

‘Til Tomorrow

    1. Yes, the preformed well too. I am super pale, so some of the really light mattes don’t really do anything for me, but everything I have used so far blend decently. They mix with other brand’s eyeshadows well too.
