Long ago, my daughter and I saw someone putting glitter all over a makeup case to make it sparkly. I’ve seen people decorate lipsticks too, and always thought it was an interesting person touch, especially if you pull it out of your purse while out and about.
I wanted my daughter to be able to participate, so I didn’t want to hand do each little stone with crazy glue, kids+crazy glue=bad news bears. So we went to the dollar store and got some decor that has gel-like glue tabs on them.
Step 1: pick out the items you want to decorate, then clean them off. The stickers need a clean surface to stick to, and often things like lipsticks have residue all over them.
Step 2: Pick out the design you want to lay out on your item. This will actually help make the next step easier.
Step 3: Measure out how you want to cut your stick strips. Makeup items need to open, so we just lined up the tubs and noticed where we would have to cut. Top would be like 6 gems and the bottom 9, sorta thing.
Step 4: Cut out your stickers into strips, it makes it easier to apply when they are precut.
Step 5: Apply your stickers
Step 6: Sit back and enjoy the sparkle!
I didn’t actually have many packages I think would work, out of my lipstick collection. Or many I would even want to bedazzle really.
This led me to go out and pick up these Milani tubes. They are the perfect shape for this sort of thing, and being gold, are already shiny. I even got them on sale, and am fairly happy with the lipsticks themselves. I will probably talk about them in another post sometime.
We were happy with our creations, and left them sparkling in the room, until the cats thought they would make fun toys. Off they went into the cupboard.
I made sure we bedazzled things I’d actually be using, so hopefully my friends and family can get a little giggle out of it.
Hope you all have fun making yours!
